Prodige du violoncelle, Edgar Moreau s'est fait remarquer en 2011 lors du prestigieux Concours Tchaïkovski, où il a interprété les Variations Rococo, une oeuvre qui est devenue emblématique dans son parcours. Cet album marque pour lui une étape importante en offrant une interprétation raffinée de cette pièce aux côtés de l'Orchestre Symphonique de Lucerne sous la direction de Michael Sanderling. Cet album, qui réunit également la Sonate pour violoncelle de Chopin avec son complice de toujours, le pianiste David Kadouch, rend hommage au répertoire slave avec une touche de virtuosité et d'élégance. Edgar Moreau exprime avec finesse l'influence classique de Mozart qui transparaît dans les Variations Rococo, tout en ajoutant une sensibilité personnelle.
